Discrimination

In Turkey, there is no protection for women being abused, there are no shelters or help for women in these dangerous circumstances.

In Saudi Arabia women are not allowed to drive. Yemeni women are some of the least empowered women in the world.

In Nepal if a woman is raped or assaulted the perpetrators are not punished, they aren't even arrested.

All women deserve a life with the opportunity to be educated, to work, to be healthy and to participate in all aspects of public life. Yet in every country in the world, women and girls live within the confines of rigid gender norms, which frequently result in disproportionate access to essential services and major violations of their human rights.
For women and girls to fully participate in their communities and enjoy their rights, they need a life free from gender-based discrimination- a life with the opportunity to be educated, to work safe jobs with adequate and equal pay, to be healthy, and to participate in all aspects of public life. However, women are frequently subjected to gender norms that limit their opportunities, defining them as mothers, caregivers, or homemakers.

Not only do these assignations limit women's choices, opportunities to seek education or a career, or ability to be decision-makers in their communities, they also put women at risk of poverty, ill-health, and violence. Women who don't conform - such as those born intersexed, lesbians, or transgender people - are at heightened risk of violence and face often-dangerous levels of gender-based discrimination.

All women have the right to live without fear of violence, to access affordable, quality education and health care, to hold any job they wish, and to lift their families out of poverty. Women and girls often face challenges to realising their rights specific to their gender. As such, we urges an equitable approach to human rights, recognising the range of gender-specific human rights violations, ranging from sex slavery to maternal mortality to property and inheritance rights.

It is estimated that over 700,000 people are trafficked each year although it is not known exactly how many are women. Most of these women are trafficked for sexual exploitation. The most disturbing is that in parts of the Middle East, “honor killings” are still practiced. There is still a twenty percent pay gap between men and women working in the same field. There has however been progress. The pay gap has decreased since it was 28 cents on the dollar in 1988 to now being 11 cents on the dollar in 2007, but in 19 years the only decrease was 17 cents. If we can keep shedding a light on the discrimination of women throughout the world we can hopefully change things for the better.

Many women in the world might not have the appropriate circumstances to raise a child or have a child. Mothers will still be mothers, aborting a child would still break their heart. But if it is for the better of her and her child. Women should be able to allow to make her own choices to bear her child. If a women is not ready for a child, they should have the right to have her own reproductive rights. Other people should not force them into a decision they want. Its women’s right and it’s humans right. Even though, the problems are not talk about publicly but it should not be void or null.

You can be the Difference.
