END Rape Culture

Rape culture is a commonly used term in feminist theory that generally refers to the normalization of sexual violence towards females as a direct result of a society’s culture. Consequently, women are raped on a consistent basis and often times, never receive justice. Rapists are enabled by society’s views and the big media capitalizes off of the objectification of women at the expense of the safety of women and men. The first step to expunge rape culture in American society is through education.

Many people are not aware that abortion in many countries is still a criminal act. Whilst the 1967 Abortion Act permits abortion in England, Scotland and Wales under certain conditions*, across the whole UK the 1861 Offences Against the Person Act (OAPA) still criminalises a woman having an abortion and a person providing it. Recently women in Northern Ireland have been criminally charged as a result of taking or procuring abortion pills.
